The students of  B.A-II went to field visit at “BIR TALAAB” on dated 04-04-13 under the supervision of  Dr. Ritu Pawan(Head of Biotechnology department)and Ms. Shivangi Saxena (Asst Professor). The purpose of the visit is to prepare visit report regarding local biodiversity and observed the value of biodiversity, causes for the loss of biodiversity and how to conserved the species which are going to be depleted. This visit would help the students to understand the nature of flora and fauna clearly and fruitful for preparing project report. Students noticed and learned new features of familiar animals and about new, unfamiliar animals and they understood abstract concepts such as the need to preserve animals.

A Mini zoo (BIR TALAAB) is a place where various birds, animals and reptiles are kept. A zoo does not contain ordinary birds and animals which we usually see in our villages and towns. It contains those birds and animals which we cannot generally see. Most of them live in forests. Some of them are brought from other countries also, as they are not found in our country. It is informative and educative too. Many people, young an old, boys and girls, from villages and cities visit this zoo. It is located on the outskirts of Bathinda in an extensive area.

There are separate enclosures for birds, animals and reptiles. After entering the zoo which has a beautiful garden in its front, one comes across the enclosures meant for birds. One can see there different kinds of parrots, pigeons, peacocks, rhesus monkey, duck common goose, peafowl, black buck, chital, sambhar, rabbit, budgerigar, large Indian parrot, rose ringed paraket and other birds of different colors and from different countries.

In the next enclosure deer of all kinds, including black bucks, a rare Indian variety, are kept. There are canteens to take lunch and benches to take rest under the green woods.

When one leaves the zoo in the evening, he leaves it with pleasant memories of birds, animals and reptiles which are also creations of God and which have a right to live with us in this wonderful world. Man owes a duty to protect all the creatures of God as he protects himself.
