Visit to Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda on 12th April 2018

Students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year 6th semester and 6 year 8th semester visited Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda on 12th April 2018. Students got the chance to see the production area of plant and various operations running over there like receiving, sampling, testing, processing of milk and preparation of various milk products. They came to know about the production process of pasteurized milk, tonned milk, double tonned milk etc. and also packaging of milk by using Form, Fill and Seal Machine. Moreover, they also learned about manufacturing process of milk products like Icecream, buttermilk, ghee, kheer, butter, curd, paneer and their packing into suitable packaging material. They also learned about manufacturing process of skim milk powder, whole milk powder using spray drier and their packaging into bags and tins. They visited construction and working of different equipments used to manufacture different products like churner for butter making, Icecream maker, Pasteurizer for pasteurization of milk, sampling devices, spray driers for milk powder etc. Students were accompanied by Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Mrs. Samandeep Kaur, Mrs. Sarabjeet Kaur and Ms. Lalita Rani.

Agri-Enterpreniurship Training Programme in Biocarve Seeds, Patiala

Under the guidance of ‘Baba Farid Society of Agriculture Students’, Department of Agriculture Baba Farid College organized a training programme for B.Sc. Agriculture final year students at Biocarve seeds, Village Dhablan, Sugar Mill Road, Patiala on 9th April 2018. A total of eighteen students accompanied with Mr. Ashutosh Sharma (Assistant Professor, Agriculture Department) visited the seed processing unit and learned about seed production technology of different winter season annuals like calendula, clarkia, pansy, ice plants, etc. Dr. Allah Rang, Founder of Biocarve Seeds, explained the various production technologies of flower, vegetable, herbal and other useful commercial plants along with fantastic exposure practical of production and export handling of various plants of the region. Mr. Simran Rang, son of Dr. Allah Rang, explained about the post-harvest handling of different seed production technologies viz., cleaning, grading, sieving, packaging and storage. Besides, they demonstrated lab work and protected cultivation of different germplasm collections. Main objective of this training was to make students aware under the Agri-entrepreneurship programme regarding future scope, prospectus and marketing of Floriculture Industry as a part of agribusiness management.

Educational visit to Arjun Nursery Goniana Road, Bathinda

Department of Agriculture organized Educational trip of B.Sc. Hons.(Agriculture) 4 year (2nd Sem) students for practical exposure cum identification of floriculture, ornamental and landscaping plants to Arjun Nursery on 17th April 2018. A total of 160 students along with faculty Members, Dr. Harpal Singh, Mr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Kumari Seema, Ms Pardeep Kaur and Ms Somandeep Kaur had visited the nursery. Students learned and identified various important flowering crops which are commercially cultivated as cut flowers, pot culture and rhizomatous plants. They have maintained largest collection of plants including Annual flower, Aquatic Plants, Aromatic Plants, Cactus, Ferns, Indoor Plants, Landscape Plants, Bamboo, seeds and pots. Besides that students got well exposure about the techniques applied for the cultivation and propagation of important useful plants in our day to day life. Among the trees, Eucalyptus, Casuarina , Dhek, Amaltas and other trees which are progated from clones, coppicing and pollarding techniques were observed. Overall this was a very informative and subject related tour.

Educational Tour To Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan and CPRI, Kufri (Himachal Pradesh)

Department of Agriculture, Baba Farid College Bathinda had organized a recreational cum educational tour from 15th March 2018 to 18th March 2018 for B.Sc. Agriculture students of 4 year (final semester) to Himachal Pradesh. Nearly 50 students and two faculty members Mr. Wineet Chawla (HoD, Department of Agriculture) and Mr. Ashutosh Sharma (Assistant Professor, Agriculture Department) accompanied the students. Tour was organized to made students learnt about the different landscaping designs, ecological considerations and different land use patterns of hilly areas especially sub-tropical to temperate regions of Himachal Pradesh viz. Solan, Shimla and Kufri. Students visited Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry Nauni, Solan, where Dr. Bharti Kashyap (Scientist, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping) delivered a lecture on dry flower production techniques for commercialization of flower industry. Students went through different types of dry flower designs, greeting cards, crafting etc. which were prepared by university students. At University Floriculture Farm, Mr. Naresh Bhatia (Farm Manager, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping) explained and showed different ornamental & floriculture crops and varieties of orchids, herbs and ferns. Dr. YC Gupta (Professor & Head, Department of Floriculture & Landscape) highlighted future scope of this subject and briefed about recent trends of flower cultivation and their production. Besides, Hi-tech Farm of Floriculture was also shown to the students. Mr. Chaman Lal (Field Assistant, Department of Floriculture) briefed about major cut flower cultivated flowers under polyhouses like Carnation, Alstomeria etc. Afterwards, students visited Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Kufri where Dr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma (Senior Scientist, CPRI, Kufri, Shimla) explained about the procedure of production of true potato seed in only that particular place. He also showed seeds of TPS to students developed by the institute. Students enjoyed at Mall Road Shimla too along with joyful DJ Party.

Adventure tour to Manali and adjoining areas of Himachal Pradesh

Department of Agriculture Baba Farid College, organized recreational cum educational tour from 23rd March 2018 to 27th March 2018 for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (4th and 6th Semesters) and 6 year (8th Semester) to Manali and adjpining areas of Himachal Pradesh. Among the faculty members Dr. Tarun Goyal (HOD Agriculture), Mr. Ramandeep Kumar (HOD Agriculture), Dr. Rajni Choudary, Mr. Guarav Arora, Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Mr. Lakhwinder Singh, Ms Navdeep Kaur, Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Ms Kamaljeet Kaur and Dr. Kumari Seema accompanied the students. During visit at Manali, students enjoyed different natural forest ecosystems especially Deodar and Pine forest which are also regarded as sacred groves for local religious ethics. Besides, students visited Hadimba Temple, Manali; Mall Road and Solang valley. They enjoyed river rafting, paragliding, bonfire, skating, rope climbing and net climbing. During stay at Manali, students enjoyed Swiss camping at bank of river Bias. Students also visited Gurduwara Sri Manikaran Sahib and Kiratpur Sahib. Students also got exposure regarding different horticultural landscaping designs especially contour and terrace farming of apple and other important fruit crops of the region.

Visit to Kisan Mela PAU- Regional Research Station Bathinda

Department of Agriculture Baba Farid College organized one day educational trip of B.Sc. Agri. 4 year (4th Semester) students to Kisan Mela on 27th March 2018 held at Regional research Station (PAU), Dabwali Road Bathinda. Three faculty members viz., Dr. V. Chauhan, Mrs. Rani Mutharoo and Mrs. Harpreet Kaur accompanied along the students for the kisan mela. Students were made aware about the improved varieties of different Rabi crops including new varieties of vegetables crops and fruit plants recommended by PAU, Ludhiana. Students had taken keen interest in learning about various brands of manures, equipments & machineries. Some of them purchased plants too. In addition, students knew about the latest technologies of agricultural development, yellow rust resistant wheat varieties and women-farm advisory for scientific farming. Last but not the least, students learned about intensified crop diversification, nutritional value of new hybrid varieties of vegetables, NO to ‘burning of paddy straw’, and various methods for scientific management regarding depleting natural resources.

Educational trip of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (2nd Semester) to Kisan Mela at PAU, Ludhiana on 23rd March 2018

Department of Agriculture had organized an educational tour to Kisan Mela held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (2nd Semester) on 23rd March 2018. The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Dr. Harpal Singh, Dr. Parmeet Kaur, Ms. Somandeep Kaur, Ms. Pardeep Kaur, Mr. Palwinder Singh and Mr. Rajinder Singh also accompanied the students. The tour was highly informative and knowledge enriching as students learned recent trends in Agriculture Sector as well as in dairy farming. The companies related to agriculture participated in this event and showcased their new techniques and agricultural equipments, fertilizers which are quiet useful in modern day farming. The various departments of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana also showed their new varieties and latest research and developments in field of agriculture, so that farmers can easily face the hard conditions created by diseases and insect pests who are becoming gradually resistant to insecticides and pesticides. The students visited various types of stalls regarding varieties of improved seeds of vegetables and research experiment of PAU in aspect of different subjects of Agriculture like Agronomy, Horticulture, Silviculture and Agroforestry, Genetics and Tree Breeding, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science as well as Agri-extension programmes were present. Main focus was on sustainable agriculture practice for farmers regarding market demand and quality planting material for climate resilient. This is the time when the farmers are in direct contact with the new technologies and seeds going to be sold in the market for the coming season. Besides agricultural promotions, students visited the various stalls of veterinary departments where they were known with various breeds of cattles and their management.

Visit to Wildlife Sanctuary, Patiala on 9th March, 2018

Department of Agriculture had organized an educational-cum- recreational tour to Bir Moti Bagh Wildlife Sancturay, Sheesh Mahal Patiala and Guruduwara Dukhniwaran Sahib Patiala on 9th March 2018, for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (IInd Semester).The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Dr. Harpal Singh, Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Ms. Pardeep Kaur, Ms. Somandeep Kaur and Mr. Rajinder Kumar accompanied the students. Students were made aware about the existing dry tropical thorn and scrub forests which fall under the Sub-group 5-B (Northern Tropical Dry Mixed deciduous forest). Further Block forest plantation, old and young plantations of various species viz., Shisham, Kikar, Siris, and other exotic species like Eucalptus and Australian wattle (Acacia auriculiformis) were observed. Regeneration pattern natural versus artificial by coppicing and pollarding was identified. NTFPs like flosses obtained from semul (Bombax ceiba) and Palas (Butea monosperma –flame of forest) and other associated species for morphological parameters of trees which include identification, growth characteristics, nutrient deficiency, composition and distribution pattern of forest were studied. Students had seen well-maintained lawns, gardens, lush greenery and tall ornamental giant trees and different species of deer, emu and birds. In addition to that various physiographic, edaphic and climatic factors were studied which are responsible for the growth and degradation of forests. Wildlife sanctuary is habitat for various fauna species like Hog deer, Black buck, Jackal, Chital, Blue bull, Peafowl, Wild boar, Rhesus Monkeys, Brahminy Myna, quails, grey and black Partridges Silver Pheasant, Asian Palm Cive,Crocodilet etc.Ornamental and medicinal trees like Chandan, Banyan tree, Peepal, Jhand, Bel fruit, Neem, Tahli, Figs, Harad, Amla, old Gaint Toon trees, were also studied, besides some aromatic and medicinal plants viz Tulsi, Black datura. Students enjoyed the trip by visiting Sheeshmahal and observed landscaping and old giant trees of plash, saghwan and lasura; well maintained by the management. Lastly students visit Historical Guruduwara Shri Dukhniwaran Sahib Patiala and bow their heads, drank sacred water from sarowar and took Guru ka langar along with performing sewa over there.

Visit to Kisan Mela Faridkot on 8th March, 2018

Department of Agriculture had organized an educational tour to Kisan Mela held at Faridkot, Regional Station (Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana) for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (6th and 8th Semester) on 8th March 2018. The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Mr. Sukjinder Singh and Mr. Lakhwinder Singh accompanied the students. Students visit various stalls demonstrated by PAU Ludhiana viz. Plant Breeding & Genetics, Vegetable Sciences. It was a great opportunity for the students that they got a chance to visit the Kisan Mela where various types of stalls regarding agricultural equipments, variety of improved seeds of vegetables and research experiment of PAU in aspect of different subjects of Agriculture like Agronomy, Horticulture, Silviculture and Agroforestry, Genetics and Tree Breeding, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science as well as Agri-extension programmes were present. Students learned about various techniques about sowing and planting of different crops and vegetable crops. Knowledge regarding agriculture tools and implements like Rota meter, Seed cum fertilizer drill, Fertilizer spreader , different types of spray pump trials of different improved varieties e.g., wheat , berseem, oat and barley. In addition to that soil & water testing units and others appliances were seen and learned by students.

Visit to Regional Research Station, Kapurthala on 7th March, 2018

Department of Agriculture organized an exposure-cm-study tour of nearly sixty students belonging to B,Sc. Agriculture 6 year XII sem Sec A and 6 year X Sem (Sec A & Sec B) to Regional Research Station, Kapurthala on 7th March 2018. The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Mahal and Ms. Kamalpreet Kaur accompanied the students. The students were explained various aspects of sugarcane research by Dr. Gulzar singh, Sugarcane Breeder, PAU as this research station is the main centre concerned with sugarcane breeding. The Research station is having 200 acres under cultivation. The students were shown demonstration plots of different varieties recommended for the state. They were also shown quality testing laboratory, juice extraction process, breeding materials etc. Dr Gulzar Singh explained various breeding methods used in case of sugarcane crop. There is a seed processing unit at Kapurthala too. The students were also shown seed processing, packaging of seed of rice varieties as seed of these varieties is to be distributed at the Kissan Melas. On behalf of the Baba Farid College, faculty members thanked Dr. Gulzar Singh on attending the students and fully explaining various aspects of sugarcane research and processing of seed.

Educational trip of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (3rd Semester) to Poultry Farm at Balahar Mahima, Bathinda on 28th Sep. 2017

An Educational trip was organized by Department of Agriculture for B.Sc. Agriculture 4yr 3rd semester students on 28th Sep. 2017 to Thana Singh poultry farm at Balahar Mahima, near Goniana Mandi, Bathinda. About 250 students were present and the trip proves to be informative for students regarding sustainable management of poultry farm. In farm, things like, space (width, height, length), Air conditioning systems, alignment of exhaust fan, unit for automatically collection eggs, cleanness of each compartment, machines for providing feeds etc. are designed in such a way that everything can be controlled through single unit on one of the corners of this poultry farm. There are different rows for hens and two containers in front of each row, one for providing feed and other for collecting Eggs. After collecting eggs, each of them is weighed and packed accordingly. There is feed distribution unit, which keep moving between the compartments and provide appropriate amount of feed at regular intervals and for drinking, drip system is available. Students clarified their queries and showed great interest towards future endeavors regarding poultry business.

Udaipur (The City of Lakes & Palaces)

Department of Agriculture, Baba Farid College organized a recreational cum educational tour for students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year 7th Sem to Udaipur (The City of Lakes & Palaces), Mount abu and Jaisalmer from 4th Oct.2016 to 8th Oct.2016. About 65 students along with Faculty members namely Mr.Wineet Chawla (HoD), Mr Gurpreet Singh and Miss Kamaljeet Kaur visited Udaipur City Palace, Lake Palace, Sahelion Ki Bari, Fateh Sagar lake, Nakki Lake, Dilwara Jain Temple, Brahma Kumari World Spiritual University and Sunset Point of Mount abu. Besides, they also explored various aesthetic and intangible benefits of nature, ecological habitats of flora & fauna, local associated geographical land use pattern and biological indicators of various visited places. Last but not the least; students enjoyed folk dance, Sunset, Thar ride and camel safari at sand dunes of Jaisalmer (The Golden City).

Educational trip of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (1st Semester) to Kisan Mela at KVK, Bathinda on 27th Sep. 2017.

Department of Agriculture had organized an educational visit to Kisan Mela, KVK, Bathinda for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (1st Semester) on 27th September 2017. The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Mrs. Beant Kaur, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Ms. Navdeep Kaur and Ms. Pardeep Kaur also accompanied the students. It was a great opportunity for the students that they got a chance to visit the Kisan Mela where various types of stalls regarding agricultural equipments like Rotamator, Happy seeder, Zero drill, seed-cumfertilizer drill, chopper, fertilizer spreader, boom sprayer and other small tools used for weeding and hoeing; variety of improved seeds of vegetables like pea, gram, garlic were present. In addition to that students also purchased different Packages of Practices of fruits and vegetables.

Educational trip of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year (3rd Semester) to Kisan Mela at PAU, Ludhiana on 22nd Sep. 2017.

The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Dr. Debabrata Dhar, Mr. Vimal Kumar, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, Ms. Pardeep Kaur, Mr. Palwinder Singh and Ms. Sarbjit Kaur also accompanied the students. It was a great opportunity for the students that they got a chance to visit the Kisan Mela where various types of stalls regarding agricultural equipments, variety of improved seeds of vegetables and research experiment of PAU in aspect of different subjects of Agriculture like Agronomy, Horticulture, Silviculture and Agroforestry, Genetics and Tree Breeding, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science as well as Agri-extension programmes were present. Entrepreneurship Programme

The department of Agriculture organized one day agricultural entrepreneurship programme visit to PNB Farmer training centre at Mehraj on 23rd March, 2017 for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture final and pre-final year students. In this entrepreneurship programme Mr. V.K. Goyal delivered a lecture on agricultural finance/ credit system, subsidies to demonstration farms where students learned about bee keeping (Apiculture), organic farming, vermicomposting and net house cultivation. They provided first-hand information about the bankable projects started by commercial and cooperative banks and NABARD, World Engineering, mushroom farming and animal husbandry etc. Mr. Baldev Singh Gill, Director, PNB Framer training centre shared his experiences with the students and he enthusiased the students about self-employment in Agriculture and the benefits of entrepreneurship. This was a good exposure for students about the agriculture and he cleared their doubts and queries about practical problems related to banking, projects of agriculture and advanced agriculture techniques. The students were accompanied by Prof. Wineet Chawla (HOD, Agriculture) and Prof. J.S. Sidhu

Tour to Jaipur

Department of Agriculture organized a tour for students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year 7th sem. and 6 year 11th sem. to Jaipur (The Royal Pink City) from 7.10.2016 to 12.10.2016. Total 85 students visited there. Students visited historical splendid monuments of Jaipur namely City Palace of Jaipur, Jal mahal, Chokhi dhaani a cultural heritage and Jaigarh Fort. They also visited Ajmer Sharif Dargah , Brahma temple at Pushkar and Umaid palace , Jodhpur. Students enjoyed the folk dance, Sunrise and camel safari at sand dune of Jaisalmer (The Golden City).

Students were accompanied by Faculty members Mr. Wineet Chawla,  Mr. Davinder Pal Singh, Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Ms. Shilpa kaushal, Ms. Sarabjeet Kaur and Ms. Navneet kaur.

Educational tour to Ludhiana Kisan Mela (22 September 2016)

The Educational tour to Ludhiana Kisan Mela was organized on 22 September 2016 for the students of B. Sc Agriculture 4 Year 3rd Semester. The tour was highly informative and knowledge enriching as students learned about the innovations in Agriculture Sector. The companies related to agriculture participated in this event and showcased their new techniques and agricultural equipments, fertilizers which are quiet useful in modern day farming. The various departments of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana also showed their new varieties and latest research and developments in field of agriculture, so that farmers can easily face the hard conditions created by diseases and insect pests who are becoming gradually resistant to insecticides and pesticides. The faculty members who accompanied the students in this visit to kisan mela were Dr Amit Saurabh, Dr Debbrata Dhar, Er Harpreet, Ms Harpreet Kaur, Ms Predeep Kaur and Dr Vinay Chandel. Overall this tour was a great success and such tours should be organized regularly as these are helpful in updating the information of the students.

Educational trip to Farmer Fair at Regional Research Station, Bathinda, 2016

Department Of Agriculture organized a trip to "Kissan Mela" at Regional Research Station, Bathinda for students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year 1st sem. on 29 sep., 2016. Total 250 students were visited there. In this Farmer Fair, students interacted with scientists and gained knowledge about latest techniques and tools of farming and their use. They gained knowledge of hybrid varities of Seeds, various flowers, vegetables and also about implementation of commercial flour mill. They got the knowledge of various facts about animal husbandry such as by using various organic supplements and feed how we can enhance the production of milk and various products. Overall, students gained knowledge about various sectors of Agriculture with curiosity.

The Students were assisted during their visit by Mr. Ramandeep, Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Mr. Vimal, Ms. Satwinder Kaur and Ms. Pardeep Kaur and Ms.Beant Kaur Faculty members of the department of Agriculture, BFC.

Tour to Mini Zoo cum Deer Safari, Bir Talab, Bathinda

Department of Agriculture had organized an educational tour to Mini Zoo cum Deer Safari, Bir Talab, Bathinda on 27th Sep. 2016, for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture 6 year (5th and 9th Semester) at a distance of 14 Kms from our college campus. The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Dr. Harpal Singh, Dr. Valentina  Chauhan and Dr Shilpa Kaushal accompanied the students. The main objective of tour was to make them aware about the morphological parameters of trees which include identification, growth characteristics, nutrient deficiency, composition and distribution pattern of forest as well as associated species. Students study well-manicured lawns, gardens and the different varieties of deer and birds lush greenery and tall ornamental giant trees. The deer enclosures include species like black buck, sambar, Hog Deer, etc. There are around 83 animals and over 190 birds of different species residing in the zoo. Some of the animals that can be seen inside the zoo are chital, sambar, black bucks, deer and monkeys. There is a separate Deer Park in the area which houses Hog Deer, Blue Bull, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Black Buck, etc. The zoo also serves as home to different species of birds like doves, partridges, parakeets, peacocks, ducks, crane, saras, chakor, etc.

Ornamental and medicinal trees like Chandan, Banyan tree, Peepal, Jhand, Bel fruit, Neem, Tahli, Figs, Harad, Amla, old Gaint Toon trees, were also studied, besides some aromatic and medicinal plants viz Tulsi, Black datura.

Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda

Students of B.Sc. Agriculture 6yr. 12th sem. and 6th sem. visited Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda on 8 April and 11 April, 2016. Students got knowledge about milk and various milk products. Students got the chance to see the various operations running over there in Verka Milk plant like receiving, sampling, testing , processing of milk . they came to know about the production process of pasteurized milk, tonned milk, double tonned milk etc. and also packaging of milk by using Form, Fill and Seal Machine.

Moreover, they also learned about manufacturing process of milk products like kheer, buttermilk, ghee, butter, curd, paneer and their packing. In addition to this, they also learned about manufacturing process of skim milk powder, whole milk powder using roller drum driers and also saw the construction and working of different equipments used to manufacture different products like churner for butter making, Pasteurizer for pasteurization of milk, sampling devices, roller driers for milk powder etc.

Trip to Kisan Mela, 2016

Department of Agriculture organised visits to Regional Research Station (PAU), Faridkot, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda on  9 March, 18 March and 22 March, 2016 respectively on the eve of Kisan Mela for the students of B.Sc Agriculture. The students gained valuable information about the latest techniques, high yielding and disease resistant varieties and implements used in modern day farming. They also visited demonstration farm to get knowledge about the use of these techniques. Representative from agricultural industries like pesticide, fertilizer and seed were also present and they explained about the use of the different agricultural inputs of the modern farming. They also saw the different medicinal plants and their uses as well as got knowledge about rhizobium culture and mushroom culture. Moreover, they also learned about the green house construction and off season cultivation of cucumber and capsicum. Expert lecture by the scientists of (PAU) about the various modern techniques of Agriculture were also quiet useful for enriching the knowledge of the students.

  

Visit to poultry farm, Blahar Mehma, 2016

Students of B.Sc. Agriculture 6 Yr 10th Semester visited poultry farm, Blahar Mehma on 29 march 2016. At poultry farm students cleared their queries about the facts of poultry production and management. They also viewed the cage system of poultry housing and learned how to rear birds in cages and space required for birds.  They also got knowledge about the feed given to birds at various age stages, preparation of feed and automated filling of feed in feeders and finally to trays of birds. They also saw manure formation from poultry droppings and other waste and its use. Students were assisted by faculty members Ms Satwinder Kaur and Dr. Amit Saurabh.

Trip to Jaipur

Department of Agriculture organized a tour of 75 students of B.Sc. Agriculture 4 year 7th sem. and 6 year 11th sem. to Jaipur (The Royal Pink City) from 14.10.2015 to 19.10.2015. Students visited historical splendid monuments of Jaipur namely City Palace of Jaipur, Jal mahal, Chokhi dhaani a cultural heritage and Raj mandir. Along with this, the rain water harvesting project at Mehrangarh fort at Amer was quite interesting spot for students from agricultural point of view as, it was made to store water for soldier to be utilized in drought period with storage capacity of 60 lakh gallons that can be used to serve 1000 soldiers for two years. They also visited Ajmer Sharif Dargah , Brahma temple at Pushkar and Umaid palace and Fort of Jodhpur. Students also enjoyed the folk dance, Sunrise and camel safari at sand dune of Jaisalmer (The Golden City).

Students were accompanied by Mr. Davinder Pal Singh, Mr. Gurprem Singh Bedi, Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Ms. Kumari Seema and Ms. Somandeep Kaur.

Educational Tour of B.Sc. Agriculture 6 year (5th and 9th Semester) and 4 year (5th Semester) to Farmer's Fair at PAU, Ludhiana on 25th Sep. 2015.

Department of Agriculture had organized an educational tour to Farmer's Fair held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture 6 year (5th and 9th Semester) and 4 year (5th Semester). The faculty members of the Agriculture Department namely, Dr. Bikesh Yadav, Dr. Deborata Dhar, Dr. Parmeet Kaur, Dr. Harwinder Kaur, Mr. Vinay Chandel and Mr. Davinderpal singh also accompanied the students. It was a great opportunity for the students that they got a chance to visit the Farmer's Fair where a lot of new technologies, tools and improved varieties of seeds shown to the them as well as farmers. This is the time when the farmers are in direct contact with the new technologies and seeds going to be sold in the market for the coming season. Even the new improved pesticides and fertilizers are also available there for sale to the farmers who are going to grow crops on their respective fields. The students also got an opportunity to clear their queries from ADO (Department of Agriculture, Punjab). Students learned a lot from this educational trip as they used to share their experiences with the staff members of the faculty.

Department Of Agriculture organized a trip of B.Sc. Agriculture Sem-I (4 year) and Sem-IIIrd (6 year) to "Kissan Mela" at Regional Research Station, Bathinda on 22 sep., 2015. Total 258 students were visited there. In this Farmer Fair, students interacted with scientists and gained knowledge about latest techniques and tools of farming and their use. They also came to know about the various facts about animal husbandry such as by using various organic supplements and feed how we can enhance the productivity of products. They gained knowledge of hybrid verities of Seeds and also about implementation of commercial flour mill. In a nutshell, students gained knowledge about different sectors of Agriculture with curiosity.

The Students were assisted during their visit by Mr. Abhinav Saxena, Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Mr. Bishroop Dutta, Dr. Dharmender Sharma, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Ms. Yadwinder Kaur, Ms. Satwinder Kaur and Ms. Jaspreet Kaur Faculty members of the department of Agriculture, BFC.

It was a golden chance for students to get knowledge about latest techniques and tools, improved seed varieties and implementation of agricultural instruments to maximize the crop production.

Visit to Agriculture fair, PAU, Ludhiana, 2015

Department of Agriculture had organized an educational trip of B.Sc. Agriculture Semester- IV (6 year) students (30 students) to Agriculture Fair conducted by PAU, Ludhiana on 21.03.2015. Where students got exposure to latest agricultural tools, new improved varieties of seeds, various types of new cultivators and combines, new tractors and newly introduced pesticides and fertilizers.

Students got opportunity to meet ADO (Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Punjab) and Dr. Harjeet Brar (Department of Agronomy), PAU, Ludhiana. Students got knowledge about soil sampling, different new varieties of crops and cleared their doubts.

Visit to Agriculture Fair, Faridkot, 2015

About 110 students of B.Sc. Agriculture semester II and IV (6 year) visted to Agriculture Fair, Faridkot conducted by Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana on 12.03.2015. At fair students had seen various latest agricultural tools, improved varieties of seeds, environmental and user friendly pesticides and fertilizers. Students also learned about new techniques of rearing and breeding of Cattles and Bees.

Educational Trip to Integrated Farmers Training Centre (IFTC) Of Abul Khurana

Total of 160 students of B.Sc. Agriculture semester IV ( 4 year) visited to IFTC of Abul Khurana situated at Malout. They got knowledge about rearing of farm animals. Also, Dr. Karnail Singh (Deputy Director, IFTC) gave a lecture on "use of hybrid varieties in Dairy Farm and their Importance". Technical Officer Mr. Shavarn Singh discussed about dairy production in India, increased milk yield, clean milk production, cow dung clearance and adulteration of milk etc. Mr. Chanan Sharma (Veterinary Officer) discussed about various diseases and their protective measures prevalent in dairy animals and cost effective animal feeding.

Educational trip to Golden Temple and Jalianwala Bagh, Amritsar, 2015

Foreign Students of B.Sc. Agriculture semester II (4 year) visited to Golden Temple and Jalianwala Bagh to get familiar with Punjabi culture and History of Punjab on 11.04.2015. Our assisting faculty members explained them about the incident happened on 13 April, 1919 and the significance of Baisakhi.Accompanying faculty members were Mr. Wineet Chawla, Mr. Gurprem Singh Bedi, Ms. Meenu and Ms. Swarnjeet Kaur.

Educational Tour To CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, 2015

An educational tour of Students of B.Sc. Agriculture Semester VIII (4 year) was organized by Department of Agriculture from 5.03.2015 - 7.03.2015. The places visted by students were:

Students got opportunity to meet Dr. Suresh Kumar Gautam (Principal Agronomist and Director Extension Education), CSK HPAU and Dr. Sunil ( Soil Scientist). Students discussed their doubts and problems with experts and also visited to their concerned laboratories and seen how work is going on there. Students had also visited to Crop Fields and Tea Gardens under CSK HPAU and got exposure to advance knowledge.

Students also visited to Mcleodganj to get exposure to vegetation, forest tree cultivation and crop fields at high attitude.Students were assisted by Mr. Gurprem Singh Bedi and Mr. Davinder Pal Singh.

Industrial Visit to Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda, 2015

Students of B.Sc. Agriculture semester IV, VI and VIII (6 year) visted to Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda on 6.03.2015. On this industrial visit, student got the chance to see the various operations running there in Verka Milk Plant.
