National Farmers Day
National Farmers Day is observed on December 23 across the country to praise the farmers as they are the spine of India. The day was chosen to honour the birth anniversary of the fifth Prime Minister of India, Shri Choudhary Charan Singh. He was born on December 23, 1902. In this context, NSS unit Baba Farid College, Bathinda, in collaboration with Agrarian Club, Department of Agriculture, BFC organized an online expert lecture by Dr. PoonamBurman (Associate Professor, Plant Pathologist Agriculture Deptt. BFC) on 23rd Dec,2021 .The live platform was provided via MS teams. There was no entry fees. The queries regarding this event were handled by event coordinator and the students of "NSS unit " whose information with contact numbers were mentioned in the circular.
First of all Ms.Sukhjinder Kaur (NSS Coordinator, BFC) welcomed Dr. PoonamBurman (Associate Professor, Plant Pathologist Agriculture Deptt, BFC), students and staff members of BFC, Bathinda. Then she requested Dr. Poonam Burman to share the key points regarding the National Farmer's day. Dr. Poonam Burman shared slides in order to discuss the significance of this day and also discussed the history behind this day in detail. This year National Farmer's day is being observed amidst farmers’ protests against the Centre’s three contentious agricultural reform laws. Farmers believe the laws will promote private investment in the agriculture sector. Several also fear that deregulation will end in hurting small and poor farmers by weakening the government’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) system.Thus the three agricultural reform laws were discussed in order to aware the students and faculty members regarding the same.She further added how these three farm rules are against farmers and could harm them in the future and how farmers were raising their voice against these three farm bills. She also praisedthe farmers protesting peacefully.Then students asked their queries and Dr.Poonam answered their questions very well. At last, Ms. SukhjinderKaur presented a vote of thanks to Dr. PoonamBurman.
This lecture proved really beneficial for students as well as faculty members. They came to know the importance and history of farmer's day in detail. The students provided positive feedback regarding the same and demanded such type of lectures in future also
Guest Lecture on "World AIDS Day" 2020
NSS unit, Baba Farid College, Bathinda, in collaboration with Max Super Specialty Hospital,Bhatinda organized an online expert lecture by Dr.Pooja Gupta Microbiologist, Max hospital Bathinda on “World AIDS Day” on 1st December 2020 through Microsoft Teams. In this context, NSS unit invited the students and staff members to participate in this online event from the comfort of their homes.
The circular for this event was revealed on 27th November, 2020 on Microsoft Teams App and on also social media. There was live platform o the team app. There was no entry fees. The queries regarding this event were handled by event coordinator and the students of "NSS unit " whose information with contact numbers were mentioned in the circular. The students got motivation and inspiration to participate in the coming events.
Dr.Pooja Gupta told the importance of the day and discuss about HIV/AIDS in the brief.She told how HIV symptoms comes out and infection visible between 2 to 6 weeks. She further added what is HIV test and said if you are meeting an HIV positive person, then there will be no problem by Hugging and kissing.Dr. Pooja Gupta Mam also told about ways to Prevent from HIV AIDS. She said about that there are lot of medicines to treat the infection. Many Students raised questions, but she answered very well. At the end, Ms.SukhjinderKaur , Event Co-oridnator thanked the Dr.Pooja Gupta.
Poster Making Competition on 17th Nov, 2020
NSS unit collaborating with Art Club, Computer Science department, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College, Bathinda, organized an online Poster Making Competition on the theme- 'HOW SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN CAN BE IMPLEMENTED' on 17th Nov, 2020. The main purpose of activity is to engage the students in a creative exercise from the comfort of their homes. This activity supports their creativity and innovative ideas expressed through art. NSS unit invited the students to participate in this online event from the comfort of their homes. There was no entry fee. The focus of the activity was to create a platform to exhibit the students' creative ideas for poster making from the comfort of their homes.The students participated earnestly in the fun-filled activity and came up with amazing ideas. Students showed in their ideas that the event not only wishes to promote the spirit of ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ amongst the students but also invigorate the young minds towards the immediate needs of the nation and our role as responsible citizens towards meeting those needs. The Posters thus made by the students would be used to promote the cause of Cleanliness in college for students in near future. Students learned a lot from this event.
This competition was only for Individual Candidates. The queries regarding this competition were handled by event coordinator Ms. Sukhjinder Kaur (AP,Computer Science) and the students of " NSS unit collaborating with Art Club ".The e-certificates were also sent to the all the participants and winners.
Literary Competition : Essay Writing on 5th Nov, 2020
NSS unit collaborating with Women Development Cell Baba Farid College, Bathinda, organized an online Literary Competition of Essay Writing on the Theme "Woman Empowerment" held on 5th Nov, 2020. The main purpose of this competition was to create respect for women.The focus was to indulge the students into a extracurricular activity with exclusive tool i.e. writing skills and to develop the ability tocreate ideas for writing skills. In this context, NSS unit invited the students to participate in this online event from the comfort of their homes. There were three language Punjabi/Hindi/English allowed to students for writing essay. This competition was only for Individual participants. Thestudentsparticipated earnestly in the fun-filled activity and came up with amazing ideas.Students showed in their ideas that empowering women by making them feel an equal part of society by educating them, making them self-sufficient, giving them equal roles in managing the society and important of all, respecting them for their contribution. making women independent of their own for themselves without hurting others, in all aspects from mind, thought, rights, decision etc. They also showed Women empowerment is a burning issue which refers to making women independent of their own. Women empowerment gives them the liberty to make their own choice. Women empowerment ensures that every women has equal rights in a society as men have. Women empowerment eradicates thoughts of inequality between men and women. It is a call for women to raise their voice against social issues like domestic violence, dowry demand. Women empowerment can be practiced in every society by giving good education to girls of the society, treating them equally like boys. Girls should be given equal rights and should be allowed to keep their views on social and family matters. They should be given opportunities to achieve their dreams.
The event was managed by event coordinator Ms. Sukhjinder Kaur and the students of "Women Development Cell".The competition result was revealed on 8th November, 2020. The e-certificate provided to all the participants and winners.Principal, Baba Farid College appreciated the students.

Science Day Celebrations by NSS Unit & Science Department
The NSS Unit BFC and Science students of BFC are going to celebrate Science day at Govt. School Deon on dated 28th Feb., 2017.
The Students of B.Sc. Biotech, B.Sc. NM, B.Sc. Medical, B.Sc. CS will show the Science projects and charts related to real life to create the interest of students in Science. The students of B.Sc. Agriculture will give the knowledge about various plants and how to protect plants from various diseases . They will guide the students to do planation to avoid from pollution. They will also do plantation at various places at village deon.
The main motive of this celebration is to aware the students of Govt school about Science Day and make efforts to use of Science for real life.

The occasion of Diwali, NSS unit NCC unit of Baba Farid College organized a Rally.It was organized to aware the students about "Anti-Cracker" diwali to motivate all the student to save the environment from the pollution. Rally Flag off by Dr. Pardeep Kaura( Deputy Director Academics(BFGI),, Shri B.D Sharma, Deputy Director Activities BFGI, Mr. Harpal Singh, Deputy Director Facility management, Mr. Manish Bansal, vice principal(BFC),W.S. Brar Principal(BFC), Dr Sarabjeet Singh Ball, Dean of Agriculture Deptt. Rally Started from main gate of BFGI and aware all the students of BFGI. the NCC volunteers of various department made the hoarding with slogan on theme ' Anti- Cracker' on Diwali Occasion. Slogans made by students were:

At the end, Shri B.D Sharma, Deputy Director Activities BFGI told the importance of celebrating anti-cracker diwali. Volunteers regarding ill effects of bursting of crackers. NCC Co-ordinator Madam Rajwant Kaur, urged the students to energize efforts to put the pollution spread during bursting of crackers at the top of any development agenda. The students were carrying colourful placards and raised slogans like ‘SAY NO TO CRACKERS,YES TO LIFE’ to cultivate a sense of duty towards the society with which we can better our lives and those of others and take our country on the path of progress. NSS Progamme Officer Sukhjinder Kaur encouraged the students to raise awareness around them and spend their parents’ hard earned money judiciously. Chairman BFGI, Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal encouraged the students and said that such kind of initiatives to aware the society for their welfare should be taken in future also.
All the students participated enthusiastically and gained values of co-operation, social service, brotherhood, collaboration, mutual assistance.

On 24/9/2016 on the occasion of NSS DAY, NSS unit of Baba Farid College organized a guest lecture by Mr. Jagjeet Singh Maan, Youth Co-ordinator, Nehru Yuva Kender. Topic of the lecture was “importance of NSS Day and target of life of Present generation”.
A Rally was organized to aware the students about Social Evils. Rally Flag off by Chief Guest Mr. Jagjeet Singh Maan, Dr. Pardeep Kaura Shri B.D Sharma, Deputy Director Activities BFGI, Mr. Harpal Singh, Deputy Director Facility management, Dr. Pardeep Kaura, Deputy Director Academics(BFGI), Mr. Manish Bansal, vice principal(BFC),W.S. Brar Principal(BFC), Dr Sarabjeet Singh Ball, Dean of Agriculture Deptt. Rally Started from main gate of BFGI and aware all the students of BFGI. This rally was organized by Depty Dean NSS BFC.
Mr. Jagjeet Singh Maan interacted with students by asking questions about their target in life and how to achieve that targets. firstly he explained the definition of aim in life He motivated the students only with positive thinking they can achieve their targets.

Trip to Amritsar
On 23/9/2016 the Department of NSS of BFC organized an One day trip at Amritsar .In this trip, there were 35 volunteers and 4 faculty members Mr. Sukhraj Singh(Asst. Prof. in the punjabi dept.), Mr. Gurpreet Singh(Asst. Prof. in the Agriculture deptt), Ms Jagminder Kaur(Asst. Prof. in the punjabi dept.), Ms Sukhjinder Kaur(Asst. Prof. in the computer deptt) went with students. Firstly Students went to Sri Darbar Sahib,and then students visited Jallian wala bagh, meusem in jallian vala bagh. Students learned about history of jallianvala bagh Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar in the Punjab state of India, and houses a memorial of national importance, established in 1951 by the Government of India, to commemorate the massacre of peaceful celebrators including unarmed women and children by British occupying forces, on the occasion of the Punjabi New Year on April 13, 1919 in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Colonial British Raj sources identified 379 fatalities and estimated about 1100 wounded. On the whole it was a knowledgeable as well as enjoyable tour for the students.
One Day NSS Camp by Students of Baba Farid College
On 7th September, 2016 One day NSS camp has been organized by NSS unit of BFC. Total 150 volunteers under the guidance of faculty members participated in this camp. This camp was organized at various places in Deon village. The students divided into various groups within area. During this camp, Students did plantation by 200 plants in village and Dera Beriana. After that they cleaned the area of Dera beriana and village Gurudwara sahib. At the end students. Students enjoyed the cultural activity. Some students Sang the songs. Ms. Sukhjinder Kaur, Deputy Dean NSS BFC motivated the students for this participation by saying this type of camp will increases the moral social cultural values in student’s life.
Extension Lecture on "International Youth Day"
On the occasion of "International Youth Day" (12th Aug, 2016), a Guest lecture was organzised by NSS Unit, Baba Farid College. Dr. R. K. Mahanjan, Regional Center, Bathinda was invited to give a extension lecture on this special day.
7 Day NSS Camp by NSS Unit
N.S.S Unit of Baba Farid College organized seven day camp from 24-30 June, 2016 in village Deon. On the first day of the camp Mr. Makhan Singh Sran, N.S.S National Awardee acted as chief guest. About fifty students of Baba Farid College actively participated in the camp under the guidance of Mrs. Sukhjinder Kaur(Deputy Dean, N.S.S).During this camp students made the people aware about social evils, trafficrules, drug addiction and health problems. Students planted trees on the main roads of the village. Students clean the various places in village. One day journalist Gurnaib Sajan was delivered a precious lecture on social evils. Even an awareness campaign was also carried out by students and they told the people about main social problems and their solutions. All the students participated enthusiastically and gained values of co-operation, social service, brotherhood, collaboration, mutual assistance etc. On the concluding day Mr. Jagjeet Singh, Youth coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra Bathinda was the chief guest. Hospital Dr.Monika also shared her valuable views about different health problems. Lovepreet Singh and Hardeep Kaur were declared best volunteers of the camp. Shaheed Raj guru Group was declared best group of the camp. This was really a novel and inspiring experience for all the students.

One day NSS camp has been organized by NSS unit of BFC. Total 95 students under the guidance of 5 faculty members participated in this camp. This camp was organized at various places in deon village. The students divided into various groups within area. During this camp, some groups of students clean the area at water works and some groups of students clean the Govt. Sen. Sec. school, Deon. At the end students did the plantation in area of water works and at school. students enjoyed the activities. Ms. Sukhjinder Kaur, Deputy dean NSS BFC motivated the students for this participation.
